Infants and growing children can tolerate higher-per-pound doses of vitamin D and cod liver oil.
Recommended dosages are as follows:
- 1/4 teaspoon high vitamin or 1/2 teaspoon regular from 4-6 months
- 1/2 teaspoon high vitamin or 1 teaspoon regular from 8 months to 3 years
- 1 tablespoon from 4-10 years and 2 tablespoons thereafter during winter months or when not sunning
We use an eyedropper to give our girls their Cod Liver Oil (CLO). Sometimes it stays down and sometimes it doesn’t! Be prepared with a paper towel to wipe up any that they spit out, it’s so hard to get the smell out of clothing. We like the Green Pasture’s brand of CLO.
Just as an update, now that Cori is 2 1/2 years old and Cassie is 6 months I’ve found an easier way to give them their Vitamin D. Carlson Labs Baby Natural Vitamin D drops can be dropped into their mouth daily and all you need is one drop.
