{"id":21,"date":"2010-05-14T17:04:56","date_gmt":"2010-05-15T00:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thefirstbites.com\/?p=21"},"modified":"2010-07-25T20:57:28","modified_gmt":"2010-07-26T03:57:28","slug":"black-beans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thefirstbites.com\/?p=21","title":{"rendered":"Black Beans"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 cup of organic black beans<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 cups of bone or organic chicken stock<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 bay leaf<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Instructions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Rinse then soak beans overnight in filtered water.<\/li>\n<li>When ready to cook, strain beans, rinse again then add to a stockpot with stock and bay leaf.<\/li>\n<li>Cook with lid on, but leaving a small hole for some air to escape.<\/li>\n<li>Cook for 1.5 hours or until beans are soft and fully cooked through.<\/li>\n<li>Keep checking liquid to make sure the beans are still covered with liquid.<\/li>\n<li>Add additional stock or filtered water.<\/li>\n<li>Can be served as finger food as individual beans, or you can let cook, place in a food processor and puree until at desired consistency.<\/li>\n<li>If not using in in the next two days, scoop into ice cube trays, cover with foil and freeze for at least 3 hours..<\/li>\n<li>Remove from trays and store in a freezer-safe container.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1 cup of organic black beans 4 cups of bone or organic chicken stock 1 bay leaf Instructions: Rinse then soak beans overnight in filtered water.
